In the first promo for the upcoming Vampire Diaries series finale, we heard Elena’s voice as she posed two very crucial questions: “What happened? Why am I here right now?”

Just as a quick refresher: At the end of season 6, Kai Parker put Elena into a magical coma by linking her life to Bonnie’s. Therefore, Elena couldn’t wake up until Bonnie died, which meant she was expecting to sleep for somewhere around 60 years. But what does it mean if Elena’s back in her old high school? Has something gone horribly wrong?

EW has an exclusive look at a new promo, which features Dobrev in the flesh — speaking of which, you might want to check out these first look photos — and furthermore, shows that Elena’s asking those two very crucial questions to none other than Stefan Salvatore.

What does it all mean? We’ll find out when the series finale airs Friday, March 10 on The CW.

The Vampire Diaries airs Fridays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.

Ian Somerhalder, Nina Dobrev, and Paul Wesley star in the CW’s romance-infused vampire soap opera.
