Denzel Washington may have trouble remembering his role in The Book of Eli.

The Oscar-winning actor stumbled initially when quizzed on his own movie quotes on Jimmy Kimmel Live Tuesday night. Kimmel asked farmers’ market attendees to read various one-liners, and it was up to Washington to guess whether one of his characters said them or not in a game of “Did I Say That?”

“For out of the ground we were taken, for the dust we are, and to the dust we shall return,” was the only one to throw him through a loop. But he made a swift comeback as he made his way through lines from Malcolm X, Flight, and Carbon Copy.

Perhaps the bigger question is, did Washington see Jurassic Park? When Kimmel screened one of Jeff Goldblum’s famous lines — “Life, uh, finds a way” — the actor said, “What is that from?”
