Brooklyn Nine-Nine will soon introduce you to the person responsible for running NYPD's most elite task force, and Gina Gershon has been tasked with the role.

The actress famous for Bound and Showgirls — and whose recent TV credits include Empire, Red Oaks, and Elementary — will guest-star in multiple episodes of Fox's cop comedy, the network has confirmed. (TVLine first reported the news.)

She will play Sergeant Melanie Hawkins, who heads up the unit that Jake (Andy Samberg) and Rosa (Stephanie Beatriz) are both eager to join. There's only one open spot, though, so the two detectives will vie against each other for the honor.

Gershon joins a season 4 guest cast that includes Maya Rudolph, Jim O'Heir, Eric Roberts, Ken Marino, and recent addition Nathan Fillion. She will first appear after Brooklyn returns from hiatus on April 11.
