Lena Dunham’s two 6-month old puppies Susan and Karen joined the Girls creator and star during an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Friday night, and the conversation quickly became all about her fur babies.

Properly named Susan Simmons and Karen DiMango, the dogs began the interview sitting calmly on Dunham’s lap while she explained their strained but respectful relationship. “They’re cousins and they live together, but they’re really different,” said Dunham. “So, it can be hard for them to co-exist together because they have very different interests.”

Seemingly fascinated by the dynamic, Fallon questions what the personalities are between the pups, and Dunham doesn’t hold back with her creative imagination. “You know, they have a connection, but Karen is into…she likes Chris Pine movies. Her favorite actor is Minka Kelly. She loves Minka Kelly. I like Minka Kelly too, but for her, it’s an obsession. Or she reads Us Weekly and she got this coat because Kate Hudson was wearing it.”

As for little Miss Simmons, life isn’t so easygoing. “Susan has a growth disorder, so while she’s five days older than Karen, she’ll never get bigger. And the other thing about Susan is she’s very goth, she’s very dark, she’s very moody. She’s only been off of heroin for four months.”

Dunham closes out share time with a poem written by the angsty Susan, which calls out her litter’s father for his reckless abandonment. “But we don’t know you / You’re no stud to us / You treated mom like the town bike / Some object of lust.”
