Netflix sets Orange Is the New Black season 5 premiere date
Netflix has announced that the ladies of Litchfield will return this summer
The ladies of Litchfield will return this summer. Netflix has announced that the fifth season of Orange Is the New Black will debut in full on June 9.
The streaming giant also previewed upcoming episodes via a short teaser trailer, which quickly cuts between tense shots of familiar faces, including Piper (Taylor Schilling), Alex (Laura Prepon), Red (Kate Mulgrew), Taystee (Danielle Brooks), Gloria (Selenis Leyva), and Nicky (Natasha Lyonne).
The clip concludes as the camera stares down the barrel of a gun held by Daya (Dascha Polanco), recalling the pulse-pounding season 4 finale in which she, amid a riot inspired by the death of fellow inmate Poussey (Samira Wiley), aims the weapon at Humphrey, one of the jail’s new, oppressive corrections officers.

Orange Is the New Black
Jenji Kohan’s absorbing ensemble dramedy, based on Piper Kerman’s memoir of the same name, takes viewers inside the walls of Litchfield, a minimum security women’s prison where nothing’s as simple as it seems—especially the inmates.
