Parks and Recreation, Alias events added to ATX Television Festival
Parks and Recreation and Alias are heading to the ATX Television Festival in Austin, Texas.
The latter — which is open to festival badgeholders and non-badgeholders — will take place on June 9 and is inspired by none other than Pawnee’s own annual “Harvest Festival.” The event will feature live music, Parks and Recreation-themed activities, food and drink from Jo’s Coffee and other local vendors.
Elsewhere during the festival, ATX Advisory Board member Glen Mazzara (The Walking Dead) will be presenting “The Anti Hero: History of an American Myth,” a panel that will take examine the character archetype and delve into its history from its origins in colonial storytelling to its impact on viewers and its presence in the “golden age” of television.
In addition, Fresh Off the Boat‘s Paul Scheer will host a screening and panel conversation about the independent pilot process. Executive Producer Marta Kaufman will return with fellow producers Robbie Rowe Tollin and Hannah K.S. Canter for a discussion of her latest show, Grace & Frankie.
Among some of the big names attending panels the festival’s sixth season will be first-timers Being Mary Jane creator Mara Brock Akil, Sweet/Vicious creator Jennifer Kaytin Robinson and showrunner Amanda Lasher, as well as returning panelists Beau Willimon (House of Cards) and Phil Rosenthal (Everybody Loves Raymond).
ATX Advisory Board members David Hudgins (Shut Eye), Liz Tigelaar (Casual), Graham Yost (Sneaky Pete), Michael Rauch (Royal Pains), and Vice President of Programming at HBO Kathleen McCaffrey will also be making an appearance.
Other panels taking place that weekend include the Designing Women 30th anniversary reunion, the Northern Exposure reunion, a Linda Bloodworth-Thomason’s Evening Shade series retrospective, Cancelled Too Soon panels for The Black Donnellys and The Middleman.
The ATX Television Festival will take place June 8-11 in Austin, Texas.
