The best game show gaffes of 2016
Television has been full of highs and lows in 2016, and the unpredictable world of game shows threw even more ridiculous moments into the mix.
As viewers learned once again this year, one player's faux pas can provide the internet with meme-worthy memories that have an impact long after their episode airs. With that in mind, EW has compiled some of the best (and funniest) moments from 2016's crop of game shows. Read on for the highlights, and click here for more Best of 2016 coverage.
1. Jeopardy! contestant mispronounces Tupac
Contestant Sara found her appearance going viral after she incorrectly pronounced the late "Dear Mama" rapper's name. Making matters worse, the correct answer was actually The Notorious B.I.G.
2. Kellie Pickler fumbles on Celebrity Family Feud
The American Idol alum came ready to play but missed the buzzer when it came time to give her answer. Even better? Host Steve Harvey's gobsmacked expression.
3. Teen Jeopardy! contestant loses by a single dollar
You can know all the answers, but you also need to know how to play the game. In the case of Jeopardy!, that means betting wisely, as teen competitor Alec Fischthal learned the hard way. His reaction is unforgettable.
4. Match Game contestant bets on Snoop Dogg
It's no secret that Snoop Dogg is a fan of marijuana — so much so that one player went all in on it.
5. Snoop Dogg bested on Celebrity Family Feud
Given the rapper's stance on marijuana, it was a bit of a surprise that he lost a weed-related question to boxer "Sugar" Ray Leonard.
6. Teen Jeopardy! contestant tricks Alex Trebek into re-enacting a meme
As contestant Sabrina proved, when you don't know the answer to a question, try and go viral by replying, "What are…those?" However, don't expect Alex Trebek to be impressed.
7. Celebrity Name Game contestant accidentally says the answer
Participating in game shows is hard. Sometimes you can make it all the way to the end, only to lose it all. That's what happened to contestant Abby when she revealed the answer instead of a clue to actors Angela Kinsey and Scott Wolf.
Some moments aren't gaffes as much as pure delights. Here are a few too good not to mention.
1. Steven Harvey meets his look-alike on Family Feud
An important part of being a game show host is being able to deal with any surprises the contestants might throw your way. But for poor Steve Harvey, coming face-to-face with his slightly "better-looking" doppelgänger was a little too much to deal with.
2. Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg on $100,000 Pyramid
A little before everyone's favorite pair of unlikely best friends started hosting potluck dinner parties on VH1 together, they were practicing their party game skills on this rebooted ABC game show.
3. Friends edition of Celebrity Name Game
As it turns out, Lisa Kudrow remembers just as many Friends-related facts as any fan of the NBC show. Of course, it probably helped that her on-and-off screen friend Courteney Cox was doing the questioning.
America's favorite answer-and-question game.
