Oprah reunites with her first South African students in O Girls trailer
Documentary series follows five women from The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls' inaugural class
A decade after launching her school for girls in South Africa, Oprah Winfrey is reuniting with some of her students to discuss how far they’ve come.
On Tuesday, Fusion announced a debut date and trailer for the upcoming documentary O Girls, where Winfrey sits down to reflect on the 10-year anniversary of opening The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa.
The special, which will air Jan. 15 at 8 p.m. ET on the network, will also document the lives of five girls from the school’s inaugural class, some of whom are set for college graduation.
“My work with these girls feels as natural to me as if they were my own children,” the former talk show host shared during the interview. “For me, this is what mothering was meant to be.”
Hosting O Girls is Kimberly Brooks, a Fusion correspondent who got her start in television working on The Oprah Winfrey Show.
