Broadway's The Lion King releases dual language 'Can You Feel the Love Tonight' video for 20th anniversary
This exclusive features Agustín Argüello and Adrienne Walker performing a duet
The Lion King is feeling the love as it celebrates its 20th anniversary on Broadway.
The hugely successful musical adaptation of the animated Disney film recently gathered Adrienne Walker, who’s been playing Nala on Broadway since July of 2016, and Agustín Argüello, currently starring as Simba in Mexico City’s production, to perform the first-ever dual language video of “Can You Feel the Love Tonight.” EW is exclusively premiering the video and it’s simply too beautiful to resist.
The song, which originated in the film and has sold millions of copies, arrives near the end of the musical as Timon mourns the end of Simba’s Hakuna Matata lifestyle. It was original composed by Elton John and features Heather Headley in the original Broadway cast recording.
The Lion King won six Tony Awards in 1998 upon its Broadway debut, including best musical, and in the two decades since has been a commercial and critical smash. It has spawned 24 global productions, including in Mexico City where Argüello performs, with its worldwide gross now exceeding that of any film, Broadway show, or other entertainment title in box office history. The new “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” video was produced in honor of its global success.
