Welcome back to the “Land of Lola,” Billy Porter! The Broadway mainstay and R&B artist will reprise his role as drag queen Lola in the musical Kinky Boots for a limited run, it was announced Tuesday. Porter is joined by fellow original cast member Stark Sands, who will return as reluctant shoe factory owner Charlie Price. The actors will reunite on stage for a run starting Sept. 26, 2017 through Jan. 7, 2018.

“It’s rare that we get to welcome an original star back to a show almost five years into its run, so to get to welcome both Billy and Stark back together is a thrill for all of us!” said producers Daryl Roth and Hal Luftig in a statement.

Panic! at the Disco frontman Brendon Urie departs the role of Charlie on Aug. 6 after spiking sales for the show during his run. Original cast member Andy Kelso, who replaced Sands as Charlie in 2014, will take over the role for seven weeks before Sands’ return. Delaney Westfall will join the Broadway company as Lauren starting Aug. 22, succeeding Taylor Louderman, who it was announced last week will star as Regina George in Mean Girls the musical.

Kinky Boots won six Tony Awards in 2013, including Porter’s for leading actor in a musical, for which Sands was also nominated.
