Jake Gyllenhaal has shown his acting chops on Broadway before, but now the actor is showcasing an impressive singing voice as he readies for the new revival of Sunday in the Park With George.

On Tuesday, the actor posted a video on Facebook of himself performing the emotional number "Finishing the Hat" in rehearsals for the musical, which begins previews this weekend.

"This is what happens when Riva Marker (the badass president of NineStories [sic]) and I invite Cary Joji Fukunaga to rehearsals for our new Broadway musical," he wrote. The video was created and directed by Fukunaga (True Detective, Beasts of No Nation) and tracks Gyllenhaal as he contemplatively walks through the Hudson Theatre. Gyllenhaal has no problem with Stephen Sondheim's notoriously complicated music, and shows us all that he can really belt. <iframe src=";show_text=1&amp;width=560" width="560" height="439" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" allowtransparency="true" class="" allowfullscreen="" resize="0" replace_attributes="1" name=""></iframe>

Gyllenhaal previously starred in the musical Little Shop of Horrors in an Off-Broadway concert production at New York City Center in 2015. The same year, he also acted on Broadway in the play Constellations.

Sunday in the Park With George starts previews Saturday and officially opens on Feb. 23. Get tickets here.
