The Voice recap: Total Knockouts
Adam and Cee Lo whittle down their teams by half in 'The Knockouts: Part 1'
EW apologizes for the lack of a full recap for tonight’s episode of The Voice, “The Knockouts: Part 1.” Our regular recapper Melissa’s cable fritzed out a few minutes into the show as Hurricane Sandy went about its furious business over NYC. Please discuss Monday’s Knockouts in the comments below, and we hope to be above water tomorrow.
This week the Voice field narrows from 40 to 20 (!) in just two nights of competition as each coach pits team members against each other. The contestants chose their own songs this time and did not know the singers they’d be competing against until showtime. Tonight was Team Adam and Team Cee Lo; tomorrow we’ll see Team Blake and Team Xtina in a special two-hour episode.
Here are Monday’s results….
Joselyn Rivera (“Love On Top”) advanced over Kayla Nevarez (“Shark in the Water”)
Bryan Keith (“(Everything I Do) I Do It for You”) advanced over Joe Kirkland (“Mean”)
Amanda Brown (“Paris (Ooh La La)”) advanced over Michelle Brooks-Thompson (“Spotlight”)
Loren Allred (“You Know I’m No Good”) advanced over Nicole Nelson (“If I Ain’t Got You”)
Melanie Martinez (“Bulletproof”) advanced over Sam James (“Walking in Memphis”)
TEAM CEE LO
Cody Belew (“Jolene”) advanced over Avery Wilson (“Yeah 3x”)
Mackenzie Bourg (“Call Me Maybe”) advanced over Daniel Rosa (“Back to December”)
Trevin Hunte (“Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now)”) advanced over Terisa Griffin (“Saving All My Love for You”)
Nicholas David (“Put Your Records On”) advanced over Mycle Wastman (“Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me”)
Diego Val (“Are You Gonna Go My Way”) advanced over Caitlin Michele (“Bring Me to Life”)
