There is no one on reality television more unlikable than Faye Resnick. And this is a genre that includes the Property Brothers. The rage against Faye among the Housewives has been building for the past six seasons. Obviously, Camille unleashed her own dislike for her at the Alison DuBois dinner from hell. Lisa Vanderpump has had a couple of run-ins with Resnick that have been unpleasant. Now, it’s new lady Kathryn Edwards’ turn, and she probably has the most understandable bone to pick with Faye: Kathryn got a not-so-pleasant shoutout in Faye’s book about Nicole Brown Simpson. All of this came to a head at a faux-BBQ that Kyle threw at her house. More on that later…

First, we opened in a sex shop as any respectable series does. Lisa V.’s husband, Ken, apparently took on the lease for a sex shop nearby Pump. His dream is to turn it into an English pub… except with like fewer dildos. But Lisa doesn’t want to have to come to this sex shop everyday for the next year to discuss schematics and design. She does however enjoy taking a quick peek around the joint where she discovers a riding crop and a vibrating rubber ducky. That woman loves anything with an animal theme. We also learn in a flashback to the days when they were building Pump that both Ken and Lisa pronounce urinal as “Your-Eye-Nils.” It was maybe the most disturbing thing I’ve seen in 2016, but I guess I haven’t seen Grease Live yet.

We then get to learn a little bit about Kathryn, which is basically that she is from the Midwest, used to be a model, and is now married to a hot former football player named Donnie. Also, she likes Donnie to buy her jewelry. They also have a home in San Diego and a condo in L.A. I sort of appreciated that he told her she could either get some jewelry now or remodel their home. It’s amazing how logical financial decisions merit applause on this show.

Kathryn also has two very intense meetings with the Lisas. The first one is lunch with Lisa Rinna where she just goes immediately in on asking whether or not Kathryn has had her lips done. Then, in between omelets, she broaches the subject of why Kathryn hasn’t had children. Nice relaxing convo with a side of field greens.

Then, she has tea at Lisa Vanderpump’s house, and the British host immediately asks Kathryn her age and if she truly is married to a younger man. Why don’t they just trip her and get it over with? Tough group.

While all of this is happening, Eileen heads off to Italy with her family. It’s a vacay but also a trip to scatter her sister’s ashes. It’s quite emotional for her and actually kind of moving. But I kept getting nervous about the ashes blowing back at her à la Sonja and her dog’s remains on RHONY.

Kyle decides to throw a BBQ in her backyard for all the girls — which of course involves Faye since that’s the driving story line now this season. Faye informs Kyle at a furniture store that she really has nothing to say to Kathryn Edwards, which seems odd since SHE WROTE A TELL-ALL BOOK. But also Faye just seems so remorseless about dragging her name through the mud. Frankly she seems more emotional over the glass coffee table she’s contemplating getting for Kyle.

So the BBQ happens, but ironically nothing is barbecued. It’s a shade party more than anything else. It’s only like 10 women but you can tell each of them want to avoid at least one other female at the event. Lots of fake hugging and “Oh, hello, it’s so good to see you”s. Kathryn is mad at Faye. Yolanda is mad at Rinna. Vanderpump is mad at Faye. Rinna feels awkward around Yolanda. No wonder Kyle decides to pass around tequila shots.

So they finally all sit down and — who would have guessed it? — Kathryn is seated right across from Faye. Not exactly a dream amuse bouche. Continuing the theme of complete awkwardness, Rinna decides once again to bring up Yolanda’s Lyme disease and whether or not it’s real. Sigh. I’m so over this story line. Then, Kyle asks what’s going on with Bella and Anwar’s Lyme disease and that makes Lisa Vanderpump uncomfortable. Turns out Yolanda’s ex-husband, Mohammed, doesn’t think his kids are sick. This whole dinner is so tension-filled that I sense no one digested their food well. Oh, and then Kyle sort of shames everyone who posed for Playboy… including Faye.

Finally, Kathryn decides to confront Faye, but it’s slightly anticlimactic. Basically she’s like, “You don’t know me, but you wrote a book about me.” And Faye looks at her like she has no idea what she’s saying and then just says there’s nothing to really talk about. You can tell the entire table is ready to bolt in case of a Rinna/Kim Richards situation. Sadly, nothing happens. Faye still seems completely unapologetic, and Kathryn seems fun. Resnick’s still got you beat, Property Brothers.
