The Big Bang Theory recap: 'The Geology Methodology'
Eat rocks, Sheldon.
Well, I never thought I’d be able to compare Sheldon Cooper to Taylor Swift, but here we are in season 11…able to do just that. Just hours before the pop singer’s latest album, Reputation, releases, Sheldon is worried about his own reputation.
Bert approaches Sheldon in the cafeteria to ask if he’d team up on a meteorology project. “It sounds interesting — but it’s still geology,” Sheldon tells him in public. But in secret, Sheldon sneaks to Bert’s office, where he will work with him, with the doors and blinds closed, at night after everyone has left. And come to find out, Sheldon actually enjoys the collaboration. This obviously sends him into a tailspin. He goes to get advice from Penny, who doesn’t give him advice after he calls her promiscuous. (By the way, when was the last time Penny got a story line of her own??)
The next day Bert returns Sheldon’s jacket, which Sheldon refuses to acknowledge as his own in front of his friends. Bert realizes Sheldon is ashamed of working on a geology project and cuts him out of it. Wait, is Bert the Taylor Swift here??
Later, when Sheldon tells Amy about what happened, she tells him that if he enjoys the work, that’s all that matters, so he runs back to Bert’s office. But he’s too late. Bert has moved on to Leonard — who is really there for the tips on how to say no to Sheldon — and literally closes the door in Sheldon’s face. Baby, now they got bad blood.
Okay, okay. Enough with the T-Swift jokes…even though Raj would really appreciate them and he’s the other main character with a plot this episode. He re-meets Bernie’s coworker Ruchi at a bar watching cricket. They hit it off better this time and spend the night together. She wants a casual relationship, and Raj is totes fine with it. Except all of his friends know he’s absolutely not. Penny warns him before he meets up with Ruchi again to be casual and not think about their future wedding.
When Raj practically verbally assaults the person selling roses in the restaurant, Ruchi asks what gives. He confesses he isn’t used to casual relationships, but wants to give this a try — that is, until she reveals that she doesn’t believe in soul mates. Raj decides it would be a waste to continue this relationship when there’s no future.
But then he describes the situation to Howard and Bernie, who help him realize he could have a sex with a woman, no strings attached. The old Raj can’t come to the phone right now because he’s in bed. Sorry, THAT was the last one.
