Well this is a surprise! Angie Miller was my pick to win, based on her commercial/teen appeal and the way she seemed to be the producers’ fave ever since they featured her original song during Hollywood Week. I totally assumed she had the most loyal fans. But Angie’s out, leaving…..

Candice Glover and Kree Harrison to compete in next week’s finals!

A trio of good but not extraordinary performances Wednesday night may have hurt Angie in the end. Candice seemed like a sure thing after her show-stopping (and closing) cover of “Somewhere” from West Side Story. Kree — a totally worthy finalist in her own right — may have elicited sympathy votes on Wednesday. Not only was her hometown visit — featuring much discussion of her late parents — sad and touching, but viewers likely resented two less-than-perfect song choices for Kree.

Jimmy Iovine called Kree’s second round “a perfect combination of home story and song.” The ostensibly still alive man added, “It killed me.”

In an EW.com poll, a whopping 60 percent of voters thought Kree would head home tonight, compared to Angie (23 percent) and Candice (17 percent).

Of course, there’s no sense trying to explain what happened. The voters liked who they liked!

Are you happier with Candice vs. Kree than you would have been with Candice vs. Angie?

Oh and did you know? Randy is leaving the show. Also likely to leave the show: Everyone.

NEXT: Lauren Alaina, Alicia Keys, #and #Mariah #CareySeason 10 runner-up Lauren Alaina returned! Idol‘s very own D.J. Tanner looks wayyyy older than she did three years ago. Lauren was rocking pink extensions, a nose stud, and her signature high-octane energy while performing her new single, “Barefoot and Buckwild.” She co-wrote the song, which means if you don’t like it, then it’s one-third her fault.

Meanwhile, Alicia Keys is so absurdly stunning in every possible way. Her face! That voice! Cool new hair! I think this is what they wanted Angie to be on the piano. I’m still not over this piano thing, guys. I wouldn’t be surprised if Angie QUITS playing the piano! Until, like, June. Maybe. Too many haunting memories, too many all-too-real hallucinations of the judges’ faces on the keys, screaming “We love you…on the piano!”

Ha, and then Mariah Carey debuted her new video for “#Beautiful,” which I totally thought was a joke title but the joke’s on me. I guess this is why she’s been punctuating some of her less verbose critiques with hashtags (“#pow,” shudder). Mariah sounds great and upbeat in this collaboration with Miguel, but what’s probably more important to her is that she looks like she’s in her 20s, twirling in a yellow negligee (dress?) in a chandelier-filled barn and writhing while seductively smooshing her own facial features atop a motorcycle in black leather lingerie (or again, maybe, a dress).

I’m into it! I’m getting shades of Mariah’s Butterfly era from the visuals. Anyone else?

Who has the advantage headed into next week: Candice or Kree? Is it obvious? Discuss!
