Tiffany Haddish stops 'Kimmel' interview to beeline for Meryl Streep at Oscars
Haddish was talking with Guillermo when she caught sight of Streep
Of all the moments you might’ve missed while watching the Oscars on Sunday night, none was more entertaining than watching Tiffany Haddish hop over the rope lining the red carpet to meet Meryl Streep. Turns out, it was all caught on camera by Jimmy Kimmel Live.
The Girls Trip star was chatting with Guillermo, Kimmel’s righthand man, when he told her Streep was coming around the corner. “Oh my God!” she screamed before making a beeline for the Oscar winner. Crossing the whole red carpet, Haddish hugged Streep and was seen mouthing, “I’m going to talk to you later.”
She then returned to talk to Guillermo, who offered her a tequila shot out of his shoe, which she declined. “I’ll get pregnant!” she exclaimed. “I don’t want to get pregnant tonight.”
Oh yeah! Guillermo wore shoes that doubled as flasks. During his red carpet coverage, he took shots with Star Wars: The Last Jedi‘s Oscar Isaac, Mozart in the Jungle‘s Gael Garcia Bernal, Baby Driver‘s Eiza Gonzalez, Molly’s Game scribe Aaron Sorkin, and Kelly Ripa.
Elsewhere, he gave The Big Sick‘s Emily V. Gordon and Kumail Nanjiani some snacks and wrote an acceptance speech for Allison Janney — who would go on to win Best Supporting Actress for I, Tonya later that night. “I’d like to thank my mother and father for making sex in a truck so that I could be born,” Janney read of Guillermo’s cue cards. “I don’t think I could’ve said it better myself.”
