While Helen Mirren was but one of many stars to arrive on the Oscars 2018 red carpet in style, she was the only one to prep for the ceremony by downing a tequila shot for all to see.
That’s right: swarmed by celebs, as photos were being snapped and mics being tossed around, the Queen herself slyly held a filled shot glass before knocking it down proudly. (Who needs formality when you’ve already won an Oscar?) Twitter was quick to celebrate the move.
Mirren, the 2007 Oscar winner for Best Actress (for The Queen), is reportedly on hand at this year’s ceremony to present the Best Actor award with fellow winner Jane Fonda. This particular presentation honor would typically go to Emma Stone, last year’s Best Actress winner, but due to the absence of last year’s Best Actor winner Casey Affleck, the tradition has seemingly been temporarily scrubbed. Affleck withdrew from attending this year’s ceremony, reportedly to avoid becoming a distraction due to the sexual harassment allegations which have been made against him (and have since been settled out of court), and in light of the building #TimesUp movement.
Last year’s supporting actor and actress winners Viola Davis and Mahershala Ali will still present this year’s supporting acting awards.
