Everything you need to know about Cardi B's massive success
Cardi B is in her glow — and we’re running through all the reasons in The Upbeat, a new video series presented by Citi, above.
On the awards front, the self-proclaimed Trap Selena nabbed five trophies at the 2017 BET Hip-Hop Awards, including Best New Hip Hop Artist and a well-earned Hustler of the Year. Her inescapable hit “Bodak Yellow” earned her two Grammy nods for Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song. Although she wasn’t able to claim those awards, her In Living Color-themed performance with touring partner Bruno Mars for his “Finesse” remix was a show highlight.
Her most recent single “Bartier Cardi” and her features on G-Eazy’s “No Limit” and the Migos and Nicki Minaj smash “Motorsport” have all occupied spots in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100, often concurrently.
That’s in addition to the record-breaking money moves she made with “Bodak Yellow,” which became the longest-reigning chart-topper on the Hot 100 for an unaccompanied female rapper. Lauryn Hill previously held that honor thanks to “Doo Wop (That Thing)” in 1998.
She’s got a lot to celebrate in her personal life, too. This past October, the Bronx rapper’s beau, Offset of Migos, dropped to one knee during Power 99 Radio’s Powerhouse concert and adorned her ring finger with an eight-carat stunner.
Recently, fans received the happy news that Cardi’s comedic talents will take her from Instagram to the big screen: TMZ reported that she’s secured her first movie deal for an unknown upcoming project.
So, will this sazón-spittin’ artist be easing off the gas in 2018? It doesn’t seem likely.
