The tribute was performed in memory of singer Dolores O'Riordan

At a recent tour stop in Louisville, Kentucky, folk-rock kings the Avett Brothers paid touching tribute to the late Dolores O’Riordan, former frontwoman of the Cranberries. With their warm-toned instruments, they took on the Irish rockers’ most famous hit, “Linger,” which cracked the Billboard Hot 100 top 10 when it released in 1993.

The fan-shot video of the performance, which took place at the Louisville Palace, is streaming below. The original track can be revisited here.

O’Riordan died suddenly at the age of 46 earlier this month. She was alone in a London hotel. Thousands of fans gathered in the wake of the news in Limerick, Ireland to pay their respects at a public service for the star. An exact cause of death will likely not be announced until April 3, according to the London coroner.
