Taylor Swift’s new era is a blank space no more.
After debuting her new single “Look What You Made Me Do” late Thursday, the singer previewed the music video on Good Morning America Friday. And since those 15 seconds aren’t nearly enough for Swifties, the entire clip will air in its entirety during the MTV VMAs on Sunday, Swift announced on Twitter.
Though short, the preview clip packs many punches: After a car crash, Swift appears on a skull-inspired throne as a snake slithers up the side. Then she bites some diamonds and swings on a red contraption before what appears to be a dance scene. Clad in fishnets and with her hands on her waist, Swift looks ready to bust some moves with a group of midriff-baring male backup dancers. “Brace for impact,” the screen says, promoting the VMAs on Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on MTV.
The timing of Swift’s announcements have been unpredictable, and Friday’s tease came while many were still enjoying their morning coffee. (Starbucks lovers, anyone?)
Her latest tease comes just days before MTV’s big awards show, sparking speculation about a performance or reconciliation with host and former friend Katy Perry, who herself dropped the video for her rumored Swift diss track “Swish Swish” this week as well. Though Swift is nominated in the best collaboration category for her duet with Zayn Malik on “I Don’t Want to Live Forever,” she is not set to perform on the show, VMAs executive producer Jesse Ignjatovic told PEOPLE.
This tantalizing glimpse has us hoping the full version will exceed our wildest dreams.
