In January, CASH Music, the online organization devoted to providing web tools to working musicians, announced CASH Music Family, a new initiative designed to fund the website while providing donors with a curated stream of digital downloads, special videos, exclusive merchandise, and other content. “Imagine a Twitter feed filled with nothing but rad music with sample downloads and purchase/stream links” for as low as $5 per month, CASH Music executive director Jesse von Doom wrote on CASH’s blog.

CASH Music Family launched on Monday, releasing its initial slate of curators and debuting a post from Craig Finn. The Hold Steady frontman wrote about the books, music, and television he has connected with while touring with Japandroids this winter. (See a sample below.) But the extended list of contributors CASH announced might be even more exciting: Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore, Neko Case, Sleater-Kinney’s Corin Tucker and Janet Weiss, Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Nick Zinner, Das Racist’s Dapwell, and many more have already signed on to participate.

“We’re so grateful to each of them because this is how music recommendations should work — people talking about things they love and sharing that love with others,” von Doom wrote. Head over to CASH Music Family for more information about the initiative.
