Swedish singer Jens Lekman announced that his fourth album, Life Will See You Now, will arrive on Feb. 17. via Secretly Canadian—and to celebrate, he’s sharing a new song called “What’s That Perfume You Wear.”

Lekman, known for his colorful and humorous songwriting, had a version of his fourth record ready to go in 2014, but something felt off. “It sounded like I had given up,” he told EW for the magazine’s First Look issue. To escape his rut, he launched the ambitious Postcards project, where he wrote and released one song per week in 2015. “It was a way of slapping myself in the face and saying, ‘You can do anything!'” he said. That liberated approach shows on new songs like the jaunty opening track “To Know Your Mission,” which was inspired by Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” “Every song started like a joke with myself — ‘I’m just going to do this stupid thing’ — that turned into something great,” he says,

As a result, he says the album has more expansive and layered production than 2012’s subdued I Know What Love Isn’t—just listen to the groovy steel-drum sample driving his new single. “I wanted it to be a pop record,” he says. “I Know What Love Isn’t was almost an extreme narrowing of the palette I was using, but for this one I wanted it to be more colorful. I wanted there to be more instruments. I was learning about drum machines and electronic instruments when I was making this.”
