School Ties: Where Are They Now?
School Ties (1992)
Based on a story by TV titan Dick Wolf, School Ties was a visceral dramatic thriller which put Brendan Fraser's promising young David Greene, a Jewish student, at the heart of a snobby and ultimately anti-Semitic clique at a posh prep school. The film included many soon-to-be famous faces, some of whom have gone on to far greater heights in the 25 years since this movie was released. Click ahead to see what the cast has been up to since 1992.
Brendan Fraser (David Greene)
Regardless of what the internet would have you think, Brendan Fraser is alive and well and still a working actor — one who even deserves some respect, according to EW's very own Clark Collis. Sure, the actor has made some pickles (Monkeybone, the third Mummy movie that has now conveniently been eclipsed by Tom Cruise), but he's also made some absolute gems, notably Gods and Monsters, and yes, Bedazzled. Up next for Fraser is the anticipated TV series Trust, along with sci-fi drama Behind the Curtain of Night.
Matt Damon (Charlie Dillon)
Matt Damon played against type as the villain of this film, the pompous bigot Charlie, but thanks to his incredible acting chops he pulled it off with chilling aplomb. Five years later, Damon (along with best friend and School Ties costar Ben Affleck) would help bring the Oscar-winner Good Will Hunting to the world, and the Hollywood heavyweight hasn't looked back since. Up next for Damon are George Clooney's Suburbicon and Alexander Payne's Downsizing, and next year's Ocean's Eight, along with several producing credits.
Amy Locane (Sally Wheeler)
Amy Locane had a lot going for her in Hollywood — prior to Ties, the blonde starlet headlined John Waters' Cry-Baby opposite Johnny Depp in 1990, and landed a part in the seminal '90s nighttime soap Melrose Place — before it all came to a halt due to a 2010 drunk driving incident that left one person dead. Locane, who spoke with EW this year after her jail term was up, is still involved in legal proceedings stemming from the incident.
Ben Affleck (Chesty Smith)
It's hard to believe Ben Affleck ever portrayed the follower, but our current reigning Batman once played second fiddle to Damon in School Ties as the brutish Chesty. Since, Affleck has become veritable Hollywood royalty, not only for his Oscar win as co-writer on Good Will Hunting but also his Best Picture win for Argoa. What's on Ben Affleck's upcoming agenda? You guessed it: lmore Batman. At least for now.
Chris O'Donnell (Chris Reece)
Speaking of Batman...Chris O'Donnell has enjoyed popularity on screens both large and small since the release of School Ties two-and-a-half decades ago. The former (or current?) heartthrob, who landed his big break opposite Al Pacino in Scent of a Woman, went on to portray Robin in two (of the lesser) Batman films and has enjoyed a long-running stint starring opposite LL Cool J on CBS's NCIS: Los Angeles.
Anthony Rapp (Richard 'McGoo' Collins)
Anthony Rapp's biggest claim to fame might be the role of Mark in the original cast of the legendary musical Rent, but the actor has been in several noteworthy films over the years, including Adventures in Babysitting (which turned 30 this year), Six Degrees of Separation, and, of course, Ties. Rapp will be boldly going where no man has gone before in this fall's grand Star Trek reboot, Discovery, as the TV franchise's first openly gay character.
