Hello to the fans
Jeff Goldblum, from whom we never stop learning, opened his speech with a quick quiz for fans. Of all the stars on the Walk of Fame, only 13 have just one name. So which of the following — Houdini, Cantinflas, Parkyakarkus — is NOT there?
(Trick question! They all are!)

There's a certificate, too!
Jeff Goldblum has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and a multicolored certificate to go with it, but he never lets his head get too big. He shared the anecdote: "I was in the airport the other day, and a woman was looking at me… she walked up to me sort of in a trance, and she said, 'May I ask you a question?' And I said, 'Yes, of course you can.' She said, ‘Are you Howie Mandel?’ A bitter pill, but a very good lesson."

Giving a wave
He also gave a shoutout to the many people he's worked with, including directors Robert Altman, David Cronenberg, Steven Spielberg, and Wes Anderson. In thanking his hairdresser, he accurately described his coif as "a miracle of cantilevered construction."

It's a big day
Did you know today is Jeff Goldblum Day? Jeff Goldblum didn't. "How could you tell me that, look, it’s already… half the day is gone!" he said. "So now we have to squeeze, just in these 12 hours and 10 minutes, what is the appropriate way to celebrate Jeff Goldblum Day? I don’t know that that could be."

Jeff Goldblum gets an idea
Luckily, Jeff Goldblum figured out the best way to celebrate Jeff Goldblum Day. "Hey, I know, let’s all go across the streets to Musso & Frank's, get, I think, the Diplomat Pudding with lots of spoons, and a martini — ostensibly the best in Los Angeles — get liquored up, and then all go over to my house for a pool party," he suggested. "Clothing optional!"

Laughing with some pals
While son River checked out his dad's new star, Goldblum posed with Norm Eisen and Ed Begley Jr. "If I’d never done anything else but become even a fringe member of the glorious circle of [Begley's] friends, my life would have been a smashing success," he said.
