Big beast showdown will be released in theaters and on HBO Max, March 31.

Why is Godzilla so angry? Who is the child hanging out with King Kong? Exactly how much damage can the G-man and Big K cause in a major conurbation? Those are some of the questions raised by the just-released trailer for Godzilla vs. Kong.

In the film, Kong and his protectors undertake a perilous journey to find his true home, and with them is Jia, a young orphaned girl with whom he has formed a unique and powerful bond.  But they unexpectedly find themselves in the path of an enraged Godzilla, cutting a swath of destruction across the globe. The epic clash between the two titans — instigated by unseen forces — is only the beginning of the mystery that lies deep within the core of the Earth.

This latest entry in Legendary's MonsterVerse is directed by Adam Wingard (You're Next) and stars Millie Bobby Brown, Alexander Skarsgård, Brian Tyree Henry, Julian Dennison, Demian Bichir, and Eiza Gonzalez, among others.

"I do want there to be a winner," Wingard told EW about the monster match-up, before the start of shooting. "The original film (1962's King Kong vs. Godzilla) was very fun, but you feel a little let down that the movie doesn't take a definitive stance. People are still debating now who won in that original movie, you know. So, I do want people to walk away from this film feeling like, Okay, there is a winner."

Godzilla vs. Kong will be released in theaters and on HBO Max, March 31.
