Writer-director M. Night Shyamalan is famous for his surprise endings. But now you can check out an alternate beginning to his recent superhero film Glass, one which focuses on the treatment facility where much of the movie takes place.
“Structurally, what I wanted to do with the movie was kind of say to the audience that the whole movie’s going to take place in one location,” says Shyamalan, introducing the sequence, “and so the thing that you’re going to see now was basically my original concept of how to set up that premise. The whole movie is going to take place in this one place, we’re going to come back here. So, I wanted to start with this mysterious place where they were setting up [these]… rooms and things for — we don’t know what purpose. Ultimately, it didn’t end up in that structure because there was just too many beginnings at the beginning of the movie… So, this section you’re going to see, came out of the movie.”
Glass is a sequel to Shyamalan’s 2000 film Unbreakable and his 2017 movie, Split. The film stars Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Willis, James McAvoy, Sarah Paulson, and Anya Taylor-Joy.
Glass is now available on digital and will be released on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray on April 16.
