Simon Pegg is looking super slim and super jacked in preparation for his new role in the film Inheritance, described as a thriller from the actor’s Terminal director Vaughn Stein.

Personal trainer Nick Lower tweeted out the photo on Friday, and while Pegg is definitely not the first actor to undergo a significant transformation for a movie, it surprised his fans nonetheless.

“6 month body transformation for #InheritanceMovie,” Lower wrote. “The brief for this role was lean, VERY lean. It required a specific body shape & look.”

“Also occasional mild grumpiness,” Pegg, who just turned 49 this February, joked.

According to Deadline, Stein’s Inheritance, based on a script by Matthew Kennedy, follows what happens after a patriarch to a wealthy, powerful family dies suddenly. When the wife and son are left with a surprise secret inheritance, it threatens to unravel and destroy their lives.

Pegg stars in the film with Lily Collins from the Ted Bundy biopic Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile. Collins reportedly replaced Pose‘s Kate Mara after scheduling conflicts apparently prompted her to depart.

Pegg will be seen next in Amazon’s The Boys, based on the violent Garth Ennis comics of the same name — albeit drastically less ripped.
