Michael Caine got pooped on by bees while making The Swarm
It turns out the notoriously awful 1978 disaster movie The Swarm was even more of a crapfest than had previously been believed. In the film, Michael Caine plays a scientist attempting to protect the populace from killer bees. But in a new interview with Rolling Stone, the actor recalls that in real life it was the insects who had the upper hand — or elevated colon, anyway.
“I did it without reading the script, because I said, ‘Who’s in it?’ and they gave this me great big star list: Henry Fonda, Olivia de Havilland, Jose Ferrer,” Caine said. “I said, ‘I’ll do it.’ One day we were all having a conversation with live bees above us, and suddenly we noticed all these little black dots on our shirts. The bees were sh‑‑‑ing on us. And so the first review was in, but we didn’t know it at the time.”
