It was announced Wednesday that James Badge Dale (Rubicon, Only the Brave) and Brian Geraghty (The Alienist, Flight) will star in writer-director Henry Dunham’s drama The Incident at Sparrow Creek Lumber. The story follows a reclusive ex-cop named Gannon (Dale), who’s forced out of retirement after he realizes a mass shooting at a police funeral was committed by a member of the same militia he joined after quitting the force. Understanding that the shooting could set off a chain reaction of copycat violence across the country, Gannon quarantines his fellow militiamen in the remote lumber mill they call their headquarters. There, he sets about a series of grueling interrogations, intent on ferreting out the killer and turning him over to the authorities to prevent further bloodshed.

The film’s cast also includes Patrick Fischler (Happy!, Twin Peaks: The Return), Chris Mulkey (Whiplash, Boardwalk Empire), Robert Aramayo (Nocturnal Animals), Happy Anderson (Mindhunter), and Gene Jones (No Country For Old Men, The Sacrament).

“Henry’s script read to me like one of my favorite movies, Glengarry Glen Ross, but with guns,” said Dallas Sonnier, one of the film’s producers, in a statement. “Having lost both of my parents to gun violence, I am keenly aware of the responsibility of producing movies which demand sensitivity in the aftermath of real-world sadness and have extremely high hopes for this socially relevant, articulate project.”

The Incident at Sparrow Creek Lumber will begin production in Dallas in March.
