Tye Sheridan goes back to the future in totally '80s Ready Player One poster
Ready Player One, the Steven Spielberg film that isn’t lacking the retro Easter eggs, got the 1980s-inspired movie poster it rightfully deserves. One could say it’s the biggest Easter egg yet.
Paul Shipper is the artist behind this one-sheet, which pays homage to the work of Drew Struzan. Struzan crafted posters for Big Trouble In Little China, Blade Runner, Coming to America, and Back to the Future in an age with no Photoshop — and actor Tye Sheridan is thrusting his fist in the air with the zeal of Marty McFly.
Sheridan plays Wade Watts, a young kid living in the year 2045 when civilization spends most of their time in a virtual reality world called the OASIS. Following his death, the program’s creator, James Halliday (Mark Rylance), leaves behind an immense fortune for the first person to find an Easter egg hidden somewhere in the OASIS. (It’s harder than finding James Gunn’s long-lost Easter egg in Guardians of the Galaxy.) Wade could be the one to do it.
The Ready Player One poster features new looks at Rylance (sporting an equally retro Space Invaders shirt and curls that would make Gaten Matarazzo drool), Ben Mendelsohn, Simon Pegg, Lena Waithe, and Olivia Cooke. Plus. there are plenty more Easter eggs to peruse.
Ready Player One opens in theaters on March 29.
