A woman can only take so much betrayal before she pushes back — and Taraji P. Henson is pushing back with full force in the final trailer for Acrimony.

Tyler Perry‘s latest film sees the Empire Golden Globe winner as Melinda, faithful wife to husband Robert (Lyriq Bent), who’s been leading a double life. When it becomes clear that her man has turned his back on her and their life together, Melinda shreds her dutiful image and gets down and dirty for some vengeance.

In this case, it’s true what the tagline says: “hell hath no fury” like a woman scorned.

Henson has been using her celebrity platform to promote more diverse roles for women and women of color in Hollywood.

“They give us a lower budget, and we take that budget and make magic and break all kinds of records — we’re making a dollar out of 15 cents with these projects,” she told The Hollywood Reporter in reference to the movie Girls Trip. “I wish we wouldn’t see color, we’d just see talent. It’s stupid that I’m not getting paid what I should be getting paid because of the color of my skin, but I’m turning in the performances, hand over fist.”

Henson called her more recent role in Proud Mary one that women don’t typically play. “Hopefully, this is the beginning of… something that we’ll see for the rest of our lives, women in these roles,” she told HuffPost. “’Cause I think it’s important.”

Henson picks up another forceful character in Acrimony — written and directed by Perry — alongside Crystle Stewart, Jazmyn Simon, Ptosha Storey, Ajiona Alexus, Antonio Madison, Bresha Webb, Danielle Nicolet, Nelson Estevez, and Kendrick Cross.
