Next year will see one of the most famous Transformers breaking off into his own solo movie.

Set in the year 1987, Bumblebee features the titular yellow robot seeking refuge in a California junkyard, where he encounters young Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld). Together, Charlie will help nurse the injured, on-the-run Transformer back to health, and he will help her find her place in the world.

In addition to Steinfeld, Bumblebee stars Pamela Adlon (Better Things) and John Cena. It is directed by Travis Knight (Kubo and the Two Strings) and produced by Transformers franchise maestro Michael Bay. Bumblebee is set to hit theaters on Dec. 21, 2018.
