If it wasn’t for the magic of editing, Armie Hammer‘s wardrobe malfunction while filming Call Me By Your Name would make the movie X-rated.
Director Luca Guadagnino and members of the cast — including Hammer, Timothée Chalamet and Michael Stuhlbarg — dropped by the SiriusXM Studios on Monday to chat about the new film with Andy Cohen, but conversation quickly turned dirty.
Cohen questioned Hammer’s clothing in the film, including how his ultra-short pants forced some extra work in the editing room.
“There was a few times where they had to go back and digitally remove my balls from the movie,” The Social Network star admitted. “They were short shorts — what are you gonna do?”
Guadagnino then chimed in, “It’s both things.”
Cohen clarified, “Short shorts and big balls is what you’re saying? Wow.”
“My mom’s going to love listening to this interview,” Hammer, 31, said with a laugh.
The cast joked that Hammer’s private bits may have been removed, but they may pop up in other parts of the movies like a messed-up game of “Where’s Waldo?”
“If you look carefully at all the trees, it’s not all peaches,” Hammer quipped.
Luckily, Hammer and Guadagnino are close. The actor spoke to Vulture about the intense experience he had while filming Call Me By Your Name and described the special relationship he had with the film’s director.
“Honestly, I think I had fallen in love with Luca,” Hammer confessed.
Guadadnino echoed a similar sentiment saying that is the kind of bond he tries to form while making movies. “For me to make a movie, it’s really creating a family,” he said. “Having a very profound familial bond with the people I’m doing the movies with, where you literally and constantly fall in love with all of them. Sometimes, this emotional flow can be very intense. Very! As it was with Armie. And then it can be very complicated.”
Since debuting at the Sundance Film Festival in January, the same-sex romance about the passionate journey of a teenage boy in love has been pegged as a surefire Oscar contender.
The full interview will air on Andy Cohen’s exclusive SiriusXM channel, Radio Andy, on Thursday at 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. ET.
Call Me By Your Name is now in select theaters.
