Prepare to visit the worlds of Ixchel, Uriel, and Camazotz — the second trailer for A Wrinkle in Time has arrived.
After the first trailer made a splash when it debuted at D23, Disney’s biennial fan expo, the follow-up is here to show audiences a deeper glimpse of what’s in store.
Directed by Ava DuVernay and based on Madeleine L’Engle’s classic science-fantasy novel, A Wrinkle in Time follows Meg Murry (Storm Reid) as she sets out to find her missing scientist father (Chris Pine) on a dangerous journey through time and space.
As revealed in EW’s first-look photos, the cast includes Oprah Winfrey, Mindy Kaling, and Reese Witherspoon as Mrs. Which, Mrs. Who, and Mrs. Whatsit — the mysterious celestial beings who guide Meg and her friends on their journey. The three actresses dominate a new poster that was dropped on Friday, along with the announcement that the second trailer would debut Sunday during the American Music Awards.
DuVernay tweeted out a teaser for the trailer Friday afternoon, writing “ALL NEW! You heard the lady! Be a warrior! Happy Friday!” The film marks a first-time venture into sci-fi for the director and makes her the first woman of color to direct a live-action film with a budget of more than $100 million.
A Wrinkle in Time hits theaters March 9.
