Director responds to horror hit competing as a comedy at the Golden Globes

There are a lot of funny moments in Jordan Peele's directorial debut, and box office smash, Get Out. Still, a few eyebrows were raised when news broke that Daniel Kaluuya-starring horror film will be competing in the comedy-musical categories at the upcoming Golden Globe Awards, following the lead of Ridley Scott's Matt Damon-starring science fiction tale, The Martian. (That film actually won the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy back in 2016, with both Damon also picking up a trophy for Best Performance By an Actor.)

Someone who sees the funny side of Get Out being nominated as a comedy? Peele himself. Earlier Wednesday, the filmmaker hit Twitter to joke that "‘Get Out' is a documentary." Then again, given the film's grounding in real-life issues and, in particular, racial conflict, it's possible he was only half-joking — or not joking at all.

Regardless, you can see Peele's tweet below and the trailer for Get Out, above. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">‘Get Out’ is a documentary.</p>— Jordan Peele (@JordanPeele) <a href="">November 15, 2017</a></blockquote><script async src="" charset="utf-8"></script>
