Burger King took over the biggest horror film of the year for some drop-the-mic-level shade against McDonald’s.
The fast-food chain tacked on a message to the end of a special pre-premiere screening of It in Germany. As audience members were coming down from all the jump scares and demonic clown gore, a phrase popped up on screen just before the end credits. “The moral is: never trust a clown,” it read.
The crowd looked at each other with quizzical looks until the Burger King logo revealed itself. The stunt turned It into “Burger King’s longest ad ever,” and the most epic dig at its fast-food rival. Your move, Ronald McDonald.
