Daisy Ridley and Tom Holland look to have another franchise on their roster.
Ridley shared a photo of herself and the Spider-Man: Homecoming star on set and in character for Chaos Walking. The film is based on the first novel in the Chaos Walking YA trilogy, The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness.
The trilogy is set in a world absent of women, where all living beings can hear each other’s thoughts. A young boy, played by Holland, meets a silent young woman, played by Ridley, and embark on a dangerous journey.
Doug Liman (American Made, Edge of Tomorrow) is directing, although Robert Zemeckis and screenwriter Charlie Kaufman were both previously attached to the project. If the film is a success, it is likely it will be the first entry in a new YA franchise along the same lines as The Hunger Games.
Ridley shared the first image from the film on her Facebook page with the caption “Chaos Walking WHAAAAT!”
The film also stars Nick Jonas, David Oyelowo, and Kurt Sutter, among others. It is set for a March 1, 2019, release date.
