Haunters: The Art of the Scare

What kind of people would spend their Octobers terrifying innocent members of the public? That question is answered by the new documentary Haunters: The Art of the Scare. Directed by Jon Schnitzer, the film details how family-friendly haunted houses for Halloween have spawned a growing subculture of extreme horror simulations. It showcases the likes of legendary scare actor Shar Mayer and maze designer Donald Julson, and tracks the infamous Russ McKamey as he creates the most controversial full-contact haunt of all time.

Haunters also features contributions from filmmakers Sylvia and Jen Soska (American Mary, GSN’s Hellevator), Jessica Cameron (Truth or Dare), and Jason Blum (chief of Blumhouse Productions), among others.

Haunters: The Art of the Scare will be released on Blu-ray and digital platforms Oct. 3.
