Michelle Williams could soon be joining Tom Hardy in Sony’s upcoming Venom movie.

EW has confirmed the actress is in talks for a role in the film, which stars Hardy as the eponymous character.

According to Variety, which was first to report the news, Williams would play a district attorney and potential love interest for Hardy. Sony declined to comment.

In the Marvel comics, Venom is a frequent enemy of Spider-Man, who originally tried using the alien symbiote as a costume before he realized its corrupting influence — at which point it fused with Eddie Brock (Hardy). However, this Venom film will not be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which introduced Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War and this summer’s Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Venom, which is also set to star recent Emmy winner Riz Ahmed, is currently slated for an Oct. 5, 2018 release.
