“Believer” is already going the way of other Imagine Dragons songs, like “Radioactive,” “On Top of the World,” “Demons,” and “Battle Cry.” In other words, it’ll soon be playing ad nauseam all across entertainment. With the recent arrival of the new Murder on the Orient Express trailer comes its latest usage in what will surely be a long shelf life in the movie trailer medium, but chances are you’ve already heard it elsewhere before.
“Radioactive” was featured in marketing for The CW’s The 100 and The Vampire Diaries, as well as the YA film The Host. “Warriors” was used to promote Wonder Woman, “Who We Are” was paired with The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, and Passengers got “Levitate.”
Outside of iTunes and Spotify, here’s where you’ve been hearing “Believer,” which debuted at No. 2 on Billboard‘s Top TV Commercials chart in February.
Murder on the Orient Express
The first and second (and likely third) Murder on the Orient Express trailer tapped this Imagine Dragons single to accompany the central question posed to Kenneth Branagh’s Detective Hercule Poirot: on a European train where someone has been killed, who can be believed?
ABC and Marvel want you to be a “Believer” of their upcoming series Inhumans. It’s a shame most critical reviews have deemed it to be “all the worst instincts of Marvel’s TV arm” piled into one. Early fan reception wasn’t much better.
Nintendo unveiled its Switch console to the mainstream world with a big Super Bowl marketing push. The ad, accompanied by footage of The Legend of Zelda: Breathe of the Wild, attempts to make a “Believer” out of gamers.
WWE 24: Finn Bálor
WWE fans watching the documentary about the Irish fighter Finn “The Demon King” Bálor heard a familiar song in the scenes following Bálor’s post-rehab recovery. He had suffered multiple injuries from a previous match was looking to push himself back into fighting shape.
“Believer” doesn’t immediately come to mind when you think about happy fun time music, but Riverdale‘s season 1 finale made the song its background track for Veronica and Archie’s hot and steamy scene.
Dancing with the Stars
In season 24 of Dancing with the Stars, Bonner Bolton and Sharna Burgess performed a sensual Argentine tango routine to the music of “Believer.” Though, they didn’t make a believer of the judges.
“Believer” was again noticed in a Jeep ad for a Celebration Event from earlier this year. As you might expect, the voiceover said, “When you believe, you can go anywhere.”
