Lost alum Dominic Monaghan will serve as this year’s ambassador for Screamfest, the Los Angeles horror film festival, which this year runs Oct. 10-19 at the TCL Chinese Theatre. The festival made that announcement Tuesday, along with its first wave of programming, which includes the Texas Chain Saw Massacre prequel Leatherface (see the trailer above), the animated film Todd & The Book of Pure Evil: The End of the End, and Dead Ant, about a one-hit-wonder glam-metal band whose peyote pit stop in Joshua Tree incites an “unworldly” attack. The latter stars Tom Arnold, Jake Busey, Cameron Richardson, and Monaghan’s fellow Lord of the Rings cast member, Sean Astin.

“I am extremely honored to serve as this year’s Screamfest ambassador,” said Monaghan in a statement. “I applaud Screamfest and its Founder and Festival Director Rachel Belofsky for embracing the work of filmmakers and actors in the horror genre. I’m a big fan of this space, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be a part of a fest that truly acknowledges unique and creative work.”

Monaghan’s horror credits include last year’s Pet and Glenn McQuaid’s 2008 grave-robbing tale, I Sell the Dead.

More information about the event can be found at the official Screamfest website.
