In what might be the most expensive sale ever of an 11-year-old used Subaru WRX, one of the stunt cars used in Baby Driver’s explosive opening sequence has sold on eBay for a whopping $69,100.
The 2006 red Subaru was one of several stunt cars to play a starring role in Edgar Wright’s car chase action flick, and it was converted to rear wheel drive to allow it to execute all those sick turns and evasive maneuvers in the opening. According to the original eBay listing, which was first spotted by Jalopnik, it boasts a mileage of 158,000 and “some dings and scratches from the filming of the movie.”
For reference, the car’s final price tag is about $40,000 more than what it would cost you to buy a brand new Subaru WRX. But this one is perfect for bank robberies or just cruising around town, jamming to Jon Spencer Blues Explosion.
Ansel Elgort stars as the titular getaway driver with tinnitus, and writer-director Wright opted for on-the-road scenes with real cars instead of green screen whenever possible. “When you’re driving eighty miles an hour and the actors are reacting to what is happening, that is worth its weight in gold,” Wright told EW earlier this year. “You don’t have to fake any expressions when you’re doing 180 degree turns!”
