Kane Hodder has enjoyed a remarkable big screen career, from playing masked killer Jason Voorhees in four Friday the 13th films to portraying the no-less-deadly Victor Crowley in director Adam Green’s Hatchet franchise. But the tale of Hodder’s pre-fame days, and in particular how he survived an accident which left much of his body horrifically burned, is no less notable.

Now, a new documentary called To Hell and Back: The Kane Hodder Story details the life and career of the horror legend, whose other credits include Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III, Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon, and the upcoming Death House. Directed by Derek Dennis Herbert, the doc’s contributors include Robert Engund, Sid Haig, Bruce Campbell, Danielle Harris, Zach Galligan, Green, and Cassandra Peterson (a.k.a. Elvira).

To Hell and Back will receive its world premiere at FrightFest in London, Aug. 26.
