There is an honorable tradition — well, a tradition, anyway — of horror franchises eventually heading off into space. Think 1997’s Leprechaun 4: In Space or 2001’s Jason X. Well, according to Child’s Play series overlord Don Mancini, we may one day see a certain possessed doll leaving earth’s orbit as well.

“I have an idea for Chucky in Space,” Mancini told fellow directors Adam Green and Joe Lynch on the most recent episode of their Movie Crypt podcast. “You know how sometimes kids will present a space shuttle crew with, like, some totemic experiment, or mascot, or whatever? Chucky in Space.”

The seventh film in the Child’s Play franchise, Cult of Chucky, be released on unrated Blu-ray, DVD, and digital on Oct. 3. Written and directed by Mancini, the movie stars Fiona Dourif, Jennifer Tilly, Alex Vincent, and Brad Dourif, who once again voices Chucky. Watch a trailer for the film above.
