Girls Trip is one of the wildest, raunchiest comedies of the summer. The Universal film, out Friday, is about four friends — played by Regina King, Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Tiffany Haddish — who head to New Orleans for Essence Fest in an attempt to re-strengthen their bond. But they also just have a ton of fun and get blitzed.
Case in point, one of the major set pieces involves the four ladies zip-lining across Bourbon Street above crowds of tourists. But Pinkett Smith’s character gets stuck mid-way and has to relieve herself on the streets below. Because we are true journalists, EW got to the bottom of what that all actually entailed when we reunited the cast for a rowdy roundtable chat.
JADA PINKETT SMITH: I had a contraption on my back and a little tube that came down my inner thigh and then it released on cue. We had to do it a lot actually because to get the right amount to come out. Sometimes it would just drip. Sometimes it was like shhhhhhhhhhh. We had to do it a few times just to get the right flow.
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Do we know what fake Jada Pinkett Smith pee is?
PINKETT SMITH: It’s Gatorade!
REGINA HALL: So you were giving people…
QUEEN LATIFAH: Hydration!
PINKETT SMITH: Electrolytes!
LATIFAH: It was a gift to the people of New Orleans. It was 100 degrees outside.
