Horror movie Hatchet returning to theaters
Tenth anniversary screenings to feature never-before-seen footage
If things start getting swampy in your local cinema later in the year, then the problem may not be a broken air conditioner. It has been announced that writer-director Adam Green’s 2007 slasher film Hatchet is returning to theaters on a 10th-anniversary tour.
It was previously announced that Hatchet is screening at the U.K.’s FrightFest festival in August in a presentation which will feature never-before-seen footage, and that same material will also be screened to audiences during the 10th-anniversary tour in the U.S.
“As soon as we started planning this 10th-anniversary celebration, I knew that I wanted to try and hold the first screening/celebration at FrightFest if possible,” said Green in a statement on the website of his company, Ariescope. “Hatchet world-premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in NYC to an incredible response from both critics and audiences, but it was the audience at FrightFest whose voices took the film to a level we could have then only dreamed of.”
Set in New Orleans, the movie stars horror legend Kane Hodder as a swamp-dwelling killer named Victor Crowley. Hatchet costars Tamara Feldman, Joel David Moore, Robert Englund, and Tony Todd. The film went on to spawn a pair of sequels, 2010’s Hatchet II and 2013’s Hatchet III.
