Deadpool 2 kicks off filming with more superhero sass
- Movie
"Maximum Effort 2.0" has begun production. Ryan Reynolds made the reference on Facebook in announcing the official start of production on Deadpool 2, which began shooting Monday with director David Leitch in Vancouver, Canada. You may recall "maximum effort" is what Mr. Pool says before dropping through the sunroof of a car full of baddies in the first film.
Reynolds revealed the same image on Instagram, writing, "The sun sets on day 1. Feels good to be back. This dog can hunt."
The actor posted a first look at himself back in costume when he was palling around on the X-Mansion set last week. And we already know how jacked Josh Brolin is getting for his role of Cable, the psychic mercenary with guns of steel.
Plot details for Deadpool 2 are still unknown, but Zazie Beetz will appear as the mutant Domino and Jack Kesy will appear as the reported villain.
Tim Miller, who helmed the first Deadpool, departed the sequel over alleged "creative differences" with Reynolds, who's also producing. Leitch, known for his work on John Wick and the forthcoming Atomic Blonde, then stepped in. "Everybody was just a fan of his work," Reynolds told EW of the filmmaker. "He's just a guy who's so muscular with his action. He also really understands those Deadpool sensibilities and where we need to take the franchise from here."
Deadpool 2 will be released on June 1, 2018.
