It’s no secret that Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy didn’t get along on the set of Mad Max: Fury Road. Both actors have been fairly open about that strife, and their costar Zoe Kravitz witnessed it.

The Rough Night actress was asked about the feud by a viewer on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, and she admitted, “Yeah…They didn’t get along.” She added, “We were also in the desert for so long. I think everyone was tired and confused and homesick and we saw nothing but sand for six months. It’s just, you go crazy, you do.”

“I actually don’t know if it was one issue. I just think they weren’t vibing,” Kravitz continued, comparing the experience to “summer camp.” She said, “At some point, everyone has like some kind of issue with somebody ’cause it’s just the way people are.”

Theron described the experience in an April 2016 interview with the WSJ Magazine, “From what I hear, he’s not like that on every movie — I hear he’s had good experiences. Maybe the movie is what it is because we struggled so much with each other, and those characters had to struggle so much with each other. If we were chum-chum, maybe the movie would have been 10 times worse.”

The Furiosa actor later explained to Esquire, “We f–in’ went at it, yeah. And on other days, he and [director] George [Miller] went at it. It was the isolation, and the fact that we were stuck in a rig for the entire shoot. We shot a war movie on a moving truck—there’s very little green screen.” Though, Theron clarified they squashed their beef by the end of the shoot.

“That’s disappointing,” Hardy told Esquire U.K. (via MTV) of the feud. “I think she is f—ing awesome. I think she’s incredible. I think she’s one of the most talented actresses of our generation.”
