The Crooked Man from The Conjuring 2 to get his own movie
James Wan to produce latest expansion of horror universe
EW has confirmed that The Crooked Man from director James Wan’s 2016 hit The Conjuring 2 is the latest character from the growing Conjuring universe to get his own movie.
Writer Mike Van Waes has been recruited by New Line to pen the script for the movie, which is based on a story by Wan and will be produced by the director and Peter Safran. The Crooked Man is a terrifying paranormal apparition which appeared briefly, but memorably, in Wan’s horror sequel.
The Crooked Man is one of several upcoming Conjuring spin-off films. The David F. Sandberg-directed Annabelle: Creation — a prequel to 2014’s haunted doll movie Annabelle — is being released Aug. 11, while filmmaker Corin Hardy (The Hallow) is currently at work on The Nun, about another of the supernatural entities featured in The Conjuring 2, which will arrive in cinemas on July 13, 2018.
The news about The Crooked Man was first broken by The Hollywood Reporter.
