Chicago is getting a new genre film festival named Cinepocalypse, which will be held at the city’s Music Box Theatre, Nov. 2-9 and will feature world and regional premieres, repertory screenings, special guests, parties, and more.

Cinepocalypse is a collaboration between Music Box General Manager Ryan Oestreich and Josh Goldbloom. Goldbloom was previously Artistic Director of the Chicago-based Bruce Campbell’s Horror Film Festival, whose 2016 lineup included a special reunion screening of The Monster Squad and the world premiere of Found Footage 3D (see photo above), among other events.

“We plan on presenting Chicago an unrivaled offering of bloody international badassery and terror with our friends at Music Box,” Goldbloom said in a statement.

“We pride ourselves on taking risks in our programming and offering a diverse slate of films,” said Oestreich. “Partnering with Josh to create Cinepocalypse makes perfect sense for us as we continue our commitment to great film in Chicago.”

The festival’s full schedule will be released in October. Passes for Cinepocalypse are now available to purchase at the Music Box Theatre website.
